Five Minute Friday: Roots

November 1, 2012

So, Kathi, over at lol*ly*gag is part of this “Five Minute Friday”.  It involves writing for 5 minutes… Unscripted, unedited, raw.  The topic this week is:

They go down, deep.  Into the heart of the mother and feed the family that grows from the rich, heady waters that lie buried under a rough facade of sunrises and sunsets with full days wedged in-between not enough sleep and too many thoughts.

Roots tap into the little girl who somehow rests dormant until circumstances awaken her and the confusion of a child affects the passions of an adult while the adult wrestles to still make the decision most likely to feed the roots planted deep within the children as they look upon her expectantly for direction, for nurture, for promise.

I will stand as firm as the roots within me are nourished.   In the barrenness of self-abandonment the roots retract, shrivel and the entire network of interlocking lives is threatened.  In the richness of quiet, consistent fellowship with the Creator, the wells are always deeper than the roots can stretch.

And then there is hope that the child will have peace and the adult will have strength.

1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.

2. Link back here and invite others to join in.

3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community.
